8 ½ Ottoe Mezzo Shanghai is the third restaurant under the ownership of the award winning chef Umberto Bombana, (Known as ‘The King of White Truffles’) and it is located in Rockbund district, an area of restored historic buildings from Shanghai’s colonial period. Just like its counterpart in Hong Kong and Macau, 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo Shanghai, a two Michelin starred restaurant offers one of the best Italian high-end dining where dishes were executed to perfection with an emphasis on bringing out original flavors.

The Italian desert 8 ½ Signature of Tiramisu must not be missed for anything. Homemade Buratta filled Ravioli with black truffles will surely excite your palate.

From the moment you step into the restaurant till the very last second, expect impeccable service from the welcoming and accommodating staffs. The presentation is awesome and staffs are knowledgeable and helpful. They speak good English as well.
FOOD
The menu at 8½ Otto e Mezzo is based on classic Italian technique employing the freshest and most exquisite ingredients available. Starters like Canapes – (king crab salad, chicken liver pate, parmesan waffle), Mozzarella mousse, Amouse bouche will excite your taste bud. The main course includes Homemade Cavatelli (seafood soup, kinki fish, king crap, lobster and clam), Trenette pasta with red tuna and bottarga eggs), Steamed Normandy Blue Lobster served with lobster consomm้, garden summer vegetables and delicious roasted garlic puree, Stewed lobster with sea urchin etc. Dessert of pear tart or refreshing Almond Foam, Meringue and Peach Sorbet is a nice option. Also, wines are better value by selecting a bottle from the hundreds of wine list than the glass.

SUMMARY
The idea that less is more is core here. The courses were meagerly sized, considering the expensive price tag but the quality and taste of the food worth every penny. However their Sunday brunch offers a great value package.
